Ocean Yoga's Philosophy

Picture
Ocean Yoga Center was founded by Paula Puopolo in 2001 as a place to practice Anusara Yoga amongst a community of uplifting people who want to feel their best.  Soon after, a prefect fit of philosophies and teaching styles brought Kate Cordell to Ocean Yoga, bringing her same joyous approach in teaching Kripalu Yoga.  We have always sought to align our teaching with the highest intention of serving our community, honoring the divine in all people, and helping each other feel free and happy.  Simple enough, right?  Sounds fun, too.

About Anusara Yoga

Picture
Paula and Anusara Yoga founder, John Friend
Since 1999, Paula has aligned with the teachings and practice of Anusara Yoga and its founder, John Friend. Anusara Yoga means "flowing in the current of Grace" and its life-affirming teachings and the Tantric based philosophies are foundational to our center's intention to serve.  This empowering practice weaves the elegant yoga alignment principles with Shri, creating more beauty in our world, and a heart-oriented community of students and teachers.   Learn more about John Friend and Anusara Yoga at www.anusara.com

About Kripalu and Gentle Yoga

Picture
Gentle Yoga with Kate is based on Kripalu Yoga which literally means compassion: “It is this compassion for the self that allows the individual to work, discover and open to the inner being, that becomes the focus of this practice.” This yoga style could be called meditation in motion emphasizing proper breathing, alignment, coordinating breath and movement. This practice not only stills the mind but stretches and strengthens the body and soothes the soul.    Each student is encouraged to honor their body’s wisdom and to work at their own level in a non-competitive environment. It is rejuvenating, relaxing and a peaceful refuge from our busy lives.  This class is open to any level from beginners or yogis wishing a quieter practice.  To learn more about Kripalu Yoga, go to http://www.kripalu.org
